Ice "Scream" Social - 10.25.2013

The evening started off with little bit of pizza from Papa Murphy's...because...why not?!  While our pizza was baking, we played.  I feel like the pictures of Todd pushing Jackson in his firetruck could be a Christmas card.  They are so cute.

After pizza it was time to hop in the car and head back to Jackson's school.  Don't worry. The car wasn't running, it was off in the garage when this was taken. It was kind of a thing to get him in his car seat.  Look at that grin. TROUBLE.

Once at school, we were out of the car and Jackson started pointing out a "comet".  He's precious.  We made it inside and he played several games and collected quite a few tickets.  We traded in the tickets for "prizes" and made it to the gym for his choice of ice cream.  Leave it to my son to find the bucket of dinosaurs in the classroom where he should be more interested in trading his tickets for prizes.

Once we made it home, the sugar rush was in full effect so we had an impromptu silly photo shoot in the kitchen.  Not a bad Friday evening if you ask me!

Motivation Monday - 11.04.2013

Monday - 10.28 - since I ran on Sunday and took a long family walk...all on a sore knee...I decided that I deserved a rest day. And rest I did!!

Tuesday - 10.29 - Ran 1.5 miles. I switched an ran the shorter distance and will do the 2 miler on Thursday.  My knee was still not 100% so I didn't want to push it.   The last thing I want is an injury that would keep me from running at all!

Wednesday - 10.30 - strength or cross training. And I did! A short and sweaty hard workout. Have you heard of The 7 Minute Workout? It is short but wow...legit. I have seen this all over Pinterest and decided to give it a go. My legs were tired after that shirt workout! And you can even get an iPhone app of the workout that is amazing. Check it out!

Thursday - 10.31 - Nothing :(  I was starting to feel sick.  Sore throat, sore neck, etc.  But don't worry, I am fighting it! So I switched Thursday and Friday to rest.

Friday - 11.01 - Rest day :( still not feeling well! While everyone was having Friday night fun...I was in bed an asleep by 9pm. I guess I'm old.

Saturday -11.02 - nothing exciting. Planned a rest day since Sunday I planned on meeting up with Meagan and Marcie for a few miles on the Monon.  I kept right on resting so I would feel well enough to actually run outside!

Sunday - 11.03 - 5.16 miles! Most weren't running miles but there was still a whole lot of moving! A very active day actually! I don't feel so bad about resting earlier in the week because once we were outside (a brisk 40 something degrees!) I was feeling like a million bucks.  We had a great time.  I love my friends!! And the view was so beautiful. I wish the leave were always so vibrant! They helped to distract us from the cool weather ;) and we got our traditional Starbucks latte afterwards.  And did I mention the red cups are back?  Bring it on, Christmas!!

Not a bad burn for a Sunday! P.S.  Meagan is a rock star once again... she completed a 6 mile run before she even met up with Marcie and I and then walk/jogged another 5 miles.  She's kind of amazing.  I want to be like her when I grow up ;)

Goals for the upcoming week (11.04 - 11.10):

Monday:  Weight Training or Cross Training
Tuesday: Run 2 miles
Wednesday: Weight Training or Cross Training
Thursday: Run 2 miles
Friday: Cross Train or Rest
Saturday: Run 3 miles
Sunday:  Rest or Easy Walk

The girls and I have already made a tentative plan to meet up for another #sundayrunday so my Saturday plans will most likely actually happen on Sunday.  I am SO looking forward to it!

jackson quincy turns two. 10.13.2013.

Now that Jackson has been two for almost 3 weeks... Maybe it is time to discuss his actual second birthday.  So here goes!

Sunday, 10.13.2013.  It looks like it was a pretty good day to me!

The day started with Nonnie making dino pancakes.  All three boys enjoyed those!
(I found the cookie cutters on Amazon)

After breakfast, it was time to play with dinosaurs, blocks and trains. Imagine that.  Soon after, Poppy (and all the boys!) walked over to the playground to burn off a little energy.  It is important to do that for small boys that will be sitting in the car for the next 5 (or more) hours.

After everyone we said our goodbyes and gave our hugs, it was time to play with the trains and firetrucks before having a little lunch while watching a favorite show.  And early to nap!  Jackson had stayed up until 10pm the night before and was still up by 6am.  He was just all kinds of ready to party.

After some post-nap cuddles, we ran a couple of errands and made a stop at the Halloween Store.  Jackson enjoyed walking up and down each aisle so much, that we went through the entire store twice.

Our last stop was a birthday dinner at Chipotle.  We all chowed down.
It was a happy day.

I still cannot believe that my little Jackson is two years old.  He is at the best stage and we are having so much fun.  I cannot imagine what the upcoming days, months and years are going to be like.  I love him so much.  I am the luckiest.

Happy Birthday to my littlest love, Jackson Quincy.  You make me the happiest momma in the world!!

Friday Loves.

Feeling a little under the weather today so I don't have much exciting to say. I don't have the energy for it. LOL lazy town, party of one!  Also, since our trick-or-treating was moved from yesterday until today (since when does this get rescheduled?  "In my day...") I don't have an exciting Halloween post to give you.  That will be next week!  So, instead I'm putting together another random assortment of things I'm loving.  And it is random!

1. Nashville.

2. This outfit.

3.  Babies in Halloween costumes.
This would be my little monster on his first Halloween in 2011.  Jackson was 18 days new. melt.my.heart.

4. Qdoba.  And a friend that knows you aren't feeling well so they are planning on bringing you Qdoba for lunch.  To help you feel better of course.  I really do have some pretty nice friends.

5. Fall colors. I'm obsessed.  And now I'm sad a little because the big storm that brought us more than an inch of rain and the 70 mph winds last night blew so many of the beautiful leaves from the trees.  I knew it was coming but now the trees are looking less vibrant and more sad.  Signs of winter ahead.  I'm in denial!

6. Running with friends.  The same friend that is bringing me Qdoba is also my weekend running friend (when I used to be a runner!) and hopefully this weekend if I'm feeling better, we plan on meeting up for another weekend long run.  The best part of it is that we each get "me" time, we get to talk to each other AND we always get Starbucks after.  It is the best.  I really hope I start feeling better because I don't want to miss it.  Thank you in advance Meagan for inviting me. I SO want to be there!  It is so nice to have a running buddy to make those long runs more bearable.  And a little bird told me that our friend Marcie will be there too.  I really need to feel better! I want to hang out with my friends this weekend!

7. My hubby. I've said it before and I'll say it again.  This week I missed him because he spent half the week in Chicago for work.  Home is just not the same without him.  Jackson and I are especially glad to have him back.

8. I love that my son loves to dress up.  Even if he requests to be a princess or ballerina.  I am happy to oblige when I can.  So last night, we were pretty ballerinas.  We danced and played dinosaurs.  It was kind of lovely.

9. Crossing things off lists. I love that feeling of accomplishment.  I am the type of person that will write something down, just so I can cross it off.  I'm strange like that.  But I love looking back and seeing progress.  Aaaah. Love it.

10. Blogs. I follow way too many and I'm really, really hoping that one day I will get to form some new friendships based on our little spaces on the internet.  There are so many lovely women out there that I totally feel like I can relate to.  The internet is a wonderful thing.  Helping people connect that have never actually met. I'm really hoping that I'll find some new friends and be able to connect.  So many of these bloggers I've been following for years (hello, stalker much?) and would love to have them learn a little more about me too.  Rambling.  I just love the whole idea of it.  Blogging. Friends. All of it.

That's probably enough for today. I have what just happened. I need a nap. And I'm pretty sure my Qdoba is on the way.  Happy Friday to me!

Stay tuned next week for things that might actually make sense.  Thanks for sticking with me.  If you made it to the bottom of this most random list, you probably deserve a cookie, or maybe a cupcake!
