twas the monday before christmas...

and all through the house
not a creature was stirring...
because they are all still at work.
wishing they were home.
all cozy in their beds.

i'm currently in the office today (and tomorrow. sigh.) trying to get things wrapped up (get it?!) before being away from the office for 12 glorious days.

i hope that we'll be doing lots and lots of this...

jackson and i have some good quality time coming up and i cannot wait.

also, just because i'm feeling a little swamped and don't have much to say...

(other than the fact that todd and i went NUTS buying jackson christmas gifts over the weekend - who is going to wrap all of them... we only have a couple of days. crap)

enjoy these last two little videos i made.  i love making them and cannot wait to do a christmas version :)

enjoy!!  happy monday before christmas!!

random tuesday ramblings. i could use a nice, warm vacation!

I don't really have anything exciting to talk about today.  It seems like most people are just concerned with the snow storm that's making its way to Indy.  I cannot say that I blame them.  I just want to get out of here before I'm stuck in traffic for hours trying to get home.  So with all that said...here are just a few things I've seen that I'm loving today.
  • First up, how can I convince my husband that we need a vacation. Just the two of us?  I feel like somehow we could squeeze in a little money into a budgeted space so the two of us could run away for a few days... between now and having another babe in the house.  Because let's be real. Once there are two kids in our house, when will we ever be able to afford to leave? ;)
Until then, I'll look at old photos from our 2nd anniversary trip to Jamaica in 2010...and I'll keep dreaming of the warm sun and hot sand...

  • And this.  Such a wonderful video.  It really motivates me to keep taking videos. Even if it takes me hours to edit.  It will all be worth it!  What a wonderful and beautiful family!!
  • Another random: my current to-do list at home consists of coming up with some sort of house cleaning plan.  I need a plan to follow. We've been working so hard with menu planning, budgeting, etc. and have been sticking to it. Now I need to get my house in order. And I'm totally the nerdy person that would love to have this at home:

Thanks for sticking with me and always allowing me to blurt out my thoughts.
Ugh. I'm honestly still stuck on the whole vacation idea...

Happy Tuesday!!

Thursday, January 23, 2014

so this one time i took a short break from blogging...

...without even realizing it. Oops.
Life happens people.
I've been busy doing all kinds of things.  All good things.
Including having fun with my little family and for that I'm not mad!

I've been working.  And driving to work in the snow (not so good).  Spending more time in the car than usual and belting out my favorite JT songs.  The usual.  But it does help when you've had more snow in Indiana than you've ever experienced in your own lifetime.  JT always helps.

We've been cooking most nights during the week.  That is a welcomed change in our house!  We used to cook fairly often but we also used to go out for dinner at least once or twice a week.  We haven't eaten anywhere but our house or a family member or friend's house since December.  Crazy talk.

We've been spending lots of time together. Lots of playing. Play doh. Cars. Dinosaurs. Dragons and knights. Lots of running "to the book club!"

We've been grocery shopping as a family every Saturday morning. And I love that.

I've been running.  Well run/walking but mostly running.  3 weeks straight and that feels amazing.  Let's keep this motivation coming!

I took Jackson to the Indianapolis Children's Museum for the first time. And since it was a free day, I only ended up spending $2 so that he and I could ride the carrousel.

Which also leads to...we've been saving money. Lots of money. THAT feels good. Hooray.

I'd say that January has been pretty good to us despite the cruddy weather.  I'm just sorry that I haven't had time to write all of it down yet.  Until that time comes, I'm going to keep running, keep taking pictures and keep enjoying life.
It's a pretty good one.

And because I love random... here are some photos from a "Random" set I've got saved on Flickr.  My mom did a quick photo shoot of us way back in 2007 or 2008 to make our wedding reception invites. Or as we'd like to call them... our engagement photos. LOL.
One word description - babies.

Bad day(s)...

Everyone has them and some are worse than others.  I just feel like I'm not having the best luck these last handful of days.  Luckily I can say that as of this afternoon things are turning around.  I am thankful that I can say nothing terrible has happened.  I just feel like I have been really stressed and feeling like things aren't going my way.  Nothing crazy to report...it's just that things haven't been working out in the positive ways I'd like them to! Good thing these kinds of days don't last...I'm tired!

You know what helps bad moods and bad days?  Running and pasta. And wine.  And friends that are understanding and so supportive.  And an awesome husband that tells you to go for a run and he will get Jackson fed and bathed.  And a little boy that runs to his momma and gives the best hugs when I pick him up from school.  The BEST HUGS. And did I mention pasta? And wine?

Sounds like hubby isn't haven't his best day today (working in retail - even with online sales! -  Is super crazy this time if year with Black Friday well on its way!) so tonight the boys and I will hopefully have a delicious dinner (Mexican food anyone?) and many smiles this evening.  That sounds pretty good to me.

And these pictures are just a couple of me attempting to better my mood yesterday. Little by little.

Let's make tomorrow awesome!

for the first time...ever...

I've turned down a Long's donut.  I still cannot believe it, even as I type this.  It may not seem like a big deal to some but it is a big deal to me.  Over the years, no matter if I was calorie counting or watching what I was eating, etc., I always would indulge in a Long's donut if one was available.  They are usually for special occasions so I didn't feel bad indulging every great once in awhile. I still cannot believe that I didn't have one today. So. Proud.

Here's the last Instagram photo I took of a Long's donut.  That must mean it has literally been many months since I've had one.  Because let's be real. I would document the heck out of that. I always do!

And let's just continue this post and continue with the randomness of it.  While scrolling through all of my old photos to find the above... I found several more photos that either motivated me or made me smile. So I wanted to post those too.

The end. Happy Thursday.

p.s. I kind of (ok, I really, really) miss my long hair now. Womp womp.

The Brinks - A Family Crest

I saw this while reading through Stephanie's blog.  I say that as if I knew her.... only because I've been a long time reader! Anyway... I saw that she had created a family crest  knew I had to have one too.  I think this pretty little creation does a pretty good job at representing our family!  If you want one too, check out the Gallo Family Vineyards Crest Creator (Please only visit this site if you are age 21 and older! Thank you!)

As if you needed meaning behind the crest...

- white wine for me
- red wine for Todd
- corkscrew (to open said bottles of wine)
- a camera for me
- the "iPad" for Todd
- and a "Big T Rex" in honor of our little man

I love it.

Also, now that I've read through Stephanie's blog, I think it's time to try a bottle of this wine...apparently they cost less than $5 per bottle. Where can I buy it? :)
